Boosting Retention and Doubling New Hires with Sun Health's Nursing Education Transition Unit.

Sun Health Boswell Hospital in Arizona designed and implemented a cost effective, new model for supporting new graduate, foreign hired, and re-entry nurse assimilation into the real world practice environment. The NET-U (Nursing Education Transition Unit) has become a unique point of entry for these nurses into the hospital. Within the first 9 months of the program's launch, Sun Health Boswell Hospital doubled their new hires and increased retention by almost 30%; while the innovative unit achieved high patient satisfaction and positive nurse sensitive indicator scores.
